What We Do

We provide a variety of services that fall under the general umbrella of providing pile driving and drilling services. Pile driving uses heavy machinery to drive piles/poles into the soil to provide foundation support for buildings or other structures. Projects include bridges, highways, overpasses, retaining walls, commercial and residential construction, elevator shafts, and sign structure footings. There are a number of applications that DFS is qualified to provide depending on the scope and needs of the particular project.

  1. Drilled piers or cast in drilled hole (CIDH) piles are an economical and adaptable deep foundation system.

  2. Temporary and permanent shoring installation or soldier pile walls to provide for below grade construction.

  3. Tie-backs for maintaining the soil in retaining walls by transmitting the tensile load to competent soils.

  4. Micropiles (12” or less in diameter) for maintaining stable tension loads against excessive vibration during installation in restricted access locations, often associated with seismic retrofitting.

  5. Soil mixing for ground improvement by combining cementitious material into native soil on site to improve the characteristics of the native soil for construction purposes.

  6. Temporary and permanent sheet piling which provides interlocking piles for a continuous water tight seal.

  7. Secant pile systems creating an overlapping wall of piles to add additional stiffness not possible with sheet pile walls and are often installed to reduce vibration and noise during installation.

  8. Drilled shafts, caissons or bored piles transfer high loads for deep foundations.

  9. Cased drill shafts necessary when unstable soils conditions exist and drilled holes cannot be sufficiently stabilized. The casing can be temporary or permanent steel pipe for the entire length of the shaft.

  10. Cast-in-steel-shell (CISS) piles are pipe piles filed with cast in place reinforced concrete frequently used for bridge foundations or other construction where soft of liquefied soil is present or where seismic loading
